Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225g) full-fat cottage cheese (4% milkfat)
- 1 cup (125g) self-rising flour
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 3 tbsp everything seasoning
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Place the cottage cheese into a high-speed blender or food processor and process until completely smooth and liquid.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour and garlic powder.
- Pour the blended cottage cheese into the dry ingredients and stir with a spatula until a thick, slightly tacky dough forms.
- Divide the dough into four equal portions on a parchment lined baking sheet.
- Flatten each ball into a disc about 1/2 inch thick to achieve the classic 'flagel' (flat bagel) shape.
- Generously brush the tops of each flagel with the beaten egg wash.
- Sprinkle the everything seasoning over the egg-washed dough, pressing lightly so it sticks.
- Bake for 22 minutes until the flagels achieve a deep mahogany-colored crust and are firm to the touch.
