Ingredients:
- 1 lb lean ground beef (90/10)
- 2 tbsp taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup chunky salsa
- 1/4 cup water
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 4 oz diced green chilis, drained
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
- 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
- 1/4 cup green onions, finely sliced
- 1 large Roma tomato, diced
- 1 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
Instructions:
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until cooked through and a crust forms. Drain the rendered fat.
- Add taco seasoning, salsa, and water to the beef. Simmer for 3 minutes until the liquid has evaporated and the beef is glossy.
- In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the cream cheese, sour cream, and garlic powder until light and aerated. Fold in the drained green chilis.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish in an even layer.
- Top with the savory beef layer, followed by a generous layer of shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
- Garnish with sliced black olives, diced tomatoes, green onions, and fresh cilantro before serving.
