Ingredients:
- 2 lbs peeled and cored apples (mix of 2 tart, 2 sweet)
- 1/2 cup unfiltered apple cider
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp salt
Instructions:
- Cube the peeled and cored apples into 1-inch chunks. Place them in a medium saucepan with the unfiltered apple cider and lemon juice. Simmer over medium-low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and easily pierced with a fork.
- Carefully transfer the softened apples and their cooking liquid into a high-powered blender. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and maple syrup. Start the blender on the lowest speed and quickly increase to high. Process for 45–60 seconds until the mixture is completely homogenous and velvety.
- Stop the blender and stir with a spatula to check for any unblended pockets. If the sauce is too thick, add 1 tbsp of water at a time and pulse until the desired consistency is reached.
