Ingredients:

  • 3 lbs apples
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. Peel, core, and dice apples into 1/2-inch cubes.
  2. Place diced apples in a bowl and toss with lemon juice to prevent oxidation.
  3. Transfer apples to the slow cooker and add water, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Gently fold the ingredients together until the apples are evenly coated in the spice mixture.
  5. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and cook on High for 3-4 hours or Low for 6-8 hours until apples are translucent and easily pierced with a fork.
  6. Use a potato masher to partially mash the apples, creating a dual-texture experience of smooth base and tender fruit chunks.
