Ingredients:
- 3 lbs apples
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
Instructions:
- Peel, core, and dice apples into 1/2-inch cubes.
- Place diced apples in a bowl and toss with lemon juice to prevent oxidation.
- Transfer apples to the slow cooker and add water, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Gently fold the ingredients together until the apples are evenly coated in the spice mixture.
- Cover with a tight-fitting lid and cook on High for 3-4 hours or Low for 6-8 hours until apples are translucent and easily pierced with a fork.
- Use a potato masher to partially mash the apples, creating a dual-texture experience of smooth base and tender fruit chunks.
