Ingredients:

  • 3 lbs peeled and cored apples
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Peel, core, and chop the apples into uniform 1-inch cubes.
  2. Combine the apple cubes, water, lemon juice, and salt in a large heavy-bottomed pot. Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and translucent.
  3. Transfer the hot apple mixture into the food processor bowl and add the cinnamon, nutmeg, and maple syrup.
  4. Pulse in short bursts for a chunky style, or run on high for 30–60 seconds for a velvety, smooth consistency.
