Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs firm apples, cored and chopped
  • 1/2 cup water or unsweetened apple cider
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Core the apples and cut them into uniform 1 inch chunks. Note: Leave the skins on for better nutrition and thickness.
  2. Place apple chunks, water (or cider), and lemon juice into the pot.
  3. Cover and simmer over medium low heat for 20-25 minutes until apples are translucent and soft.
  4. Remove the pot from the heat.
  5. Stir in the ground cinnamon, salt, and maple syrup.
  6. Submerge the immersion blender fully into the fruit. Note: This prevents splashing.
  7. Blend in a slow, sweeping motion for 1-2 minutes until the sauce is velvety and uniform.
  8. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving or storing.
