Ingredients:

  • 2 large Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, and cut into 16 wedges total)
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1.5 cups light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 12 fl oz Mountain Dew soda

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch ceramic or glass baking dish.
  2. Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll triangles. Place one Granny Smith apple wedge at the wide end of each triangle and roll it toward the point.
  3. Arrange the 16 wrapped dumplings in two rows in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, light brown sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  5. Pour the butter and sugar mixture evenly over the top of the arranged dumplings.
  6. Carefully pour the Mountain Dew soda around the edges of the pan and into the valleys between the dumplings. Do not pour directly over the top of the dough to preserve the crispness.
  7. Bake for 40 minutes until the pastry tops are mahogany-colored and crisp, and the sauce has reduced to a bubbling syrup.
