Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Lean Ground Beef (90/10 ratio)
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp Kosher Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper, freshly cracked
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup Bisquick or original baking mix
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1.5 cups Sharp Cheddar cheese, freshly shredded

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place a 10-inch oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and diced onion to the skillet. Cook for 7 to 9 minutes, breaking up the meat with a spatula until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent. Drain any excess rendered fat.
  3. Stir in the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Spread the beef mixture into an even layer across the bottom of the pan.
  4. Sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the Bisquick, milk, and eggs until the mixture is mostly smooth with few lumps.
  6. Pour the batter slowly over the meat and cheese.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes until the top is golden brown and a knife comes out clean.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese on top and let it melt for 2 minutes before slicing.
