Ingredients:
- 3 lbs sweet-tart apples, peeled, cored, and chopped into 1-inch chunks
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions:
- Peel the apples, remove the cores, and chop them into uniform 1-inch cubes. Place the chunks into the slow cooker crock.
- Drizzle water and lemon juice over the apples. Sprinkle the cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt evenly across the top, then stir in the maple syrup and coat the apples gently.
- Cover with a tight-fitting lid. Cook on Low for 7–8 hours or High for 4–5 hours until apples are tender enough to be crushed effortlessly.
- For a rustic style, mash the apples directly in the crock with a potato masher. For a smooth consistency, use an immersion blender.
